Our latest design for a client in West London  is a contemporary courtyard with raised flower beds, a water rill and an oak divide.3d courtyard plan of small modern garden The brief for this design was to provide a modern entertaining area with a secluded room or area at the far end of the garden, also to create an interesting  vista from the lounge area that leads directly onto the garden.

The seating areas in the raised beds are made from sanded green oak railway sleepers and the dividing wall is made from machined green oak to match. The oak divide has a water feature in to the left hand side and water cascades from this down into a rill which runs along the left hand side of the paving and across the width of the garden, there are stepping stones in the middle.

The paving stone is natural stone kept very light in colour to give a clean, minimal feel and the block work walls are finished in render and painted to match. To add to the modern feel we have designed a second shelf midway up the rendered wall and put in some blue uplighters and the height of this will give more privacy.

Mixed grasses provide the planting and they are surrounded with Scottish pebbles to keep the minimal feel.
