Terraced Garden

This garden had a steep slope and existing narrow, concrete steps, the journey to the top of the garden where the main lawn area was dangerous and uninteresting. The view from the house wasn’t nice and as the concrete was so close to the house it felt dark inside.
Terraced Garden - effective use of limited spaceThe design included terracing the garden and creating large wide gradual steps up to the lawn level, we added in some flower beds for low level planting and lowered the ground level to let more light into the house. By cutting into the slope we were able to make the first steps much wider and open up the area in front of the conservatory again letting in much more light.

The paving we used was natural stone with different colours throughout this would compliment the cream coloured walls chosen to brighten up the whole area.

On the middle terrace we laid some lawn and put in a raised bed creating a separate area to the main lawn area.

The finished garden is much easier to use and the journey up to the top lawn is more interesting, the house now feels much lighter and you don’t have the same feeling of being closed in as before.
