Moroccan Garden

Moroccan Garden - 3D plan created to visualise the end result Our design brief was to incorporate an existing tree and wall in a Moroccan design for adults to enjoy and have a children’s play area screened from the main garden. The plant brief was to have exotic palms and colourful flowers to create an urban paradise. The clients also wanted some sort of lighting and a water feature.

The plot was wider than it was long which has its own design issues, however we bounced around with some ideas and came up with a design based on levels and a zigzag pathway, the levels would lead the eye around the garden, the pathway would lead you around the raised lawn and through the garden to the children’s play area screened behind a wooden fence.

We put a small deck directly outside the doors of the conservatory and raised it to the height of the conservatory floor so it would invite you outside, next to the deck we put in a small water feature to create noise and interest.

The build was fairly straight forward, once all the hard landscaping was complete we painted all the raised walls in a Moroccan orange/brown and the main wall in contrasting white, then it was time to bring in the soil and plants.

We used phormiums, trachycarpus fortunei and phoenix palms to give an exotic feel, grasses to provide height, noise and added shade loving fatsia japonicas, ferns and hostas to the more sheltered areas.

Moroccan Garden - the end resultTo add lighting we put in spotlights in the flower beds making use of the different heights if the walls and shrubs, in addition to this we purchased some lantern’s and dotted them around the garden.

The finished result is a warm and exotic environment to entertain friends and family or an urban paradise to sit, relax and get away from everyday life.
